Part I: Before the Procedure
Participants will learn how to avoid costly errors through a thorough understanding of the various operational and compliance concerns for radiology that occur prior to the performance of a radiology service. Specific topics will include:

  • Scheduling
  • Ordering Guidelines
  • Pre-Certification
  • Medical Necessity
  • Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs)
  • Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN)

Part II: After the Procedure Is Performed
This session will continue to build on their knowledge of specific radiology practice and procedure requirements. Issues to discuss will include:

  • Accurate charge capture – who should performed? Where are the traps?
  • Radiology documentation guidelines
  • Modifiers for Diagnostic Radiology Services
  • Coding Tips and Traps by modality
  • Frequently asked questions

Part III: After the Procedure Is Billed
This session will focus on the key areas of concern related to appropriate reimbursement and the handling of rejects and denials. Specifically the following areas will be addressed:

  • Component coding and bundling edits
  • 2008 coding and reimbursement updates for OPPS and MPFS
  • Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs)
  • Appeals – should you or shouldn’t you?


Continuing Education Credit

AHRA has applied for 7.0 Category A ARRT credits for each seminar. You must be present for each education session to be eligible for the CE credit related to each session.
