| The objective of this nationwide study
of the use of imaging services was to assess the variation
in the use of imaging services across various hospital
types and geographic regions. The study was conducted
using the clinical and financial records of more than
25,000 patients discharged from 67 hospitals stratified
by geographic region of the country, location of the
facility, bed size, and hospital teaching status.
The authors describe the development of the process,
using existing hospital data, to assess imaging service
use and patient cost and outcome, and recommend its
ongoing use by all radiology administrators. |
